JNCC is delighted that Willow Outhwaite, our Strategic Science Leader, has been recognised on the ENDS Report Power List 2025.
The ENDS Power List names the 100 UK environmental professionals who have made the greatest impact over the past two years – as nominated by their colleagues, clients and competitors. The list is intended to be a celebration of the vast amount of talent that exists in the environmental profession and as an opportunity to shine a light on the work of those delivering positive change.
Willow, currently our Strategic Science Leader, has been a senior international biodiversity advisor at JNCC since 2022. At the last two conferences of the parties to the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD COP15 and COP16), she was part of the UK government’s core negotiations team.
JNCC Chair Professor Tom Meagher said: "On behalf of JNCC, I am thrilled that Willow has been recognised as an 'Unsung Hero' in this year's ENDS Power List. I had the opportunity to witness first-hand her contributions at COP16 last October, and the gravity and authority of her efforts were strongly evident! It is a strong credit to Willow and also empowering for her work with JNCC and beyond that she has received this honour."
On hearing the news, Willow said: "I am incredibly honoured to be included on this list alongside individuals who have made such an impact for nature. Representing the UK in international negotiations has been an immense privilege and demonstrates the key role that JNCC plays at the science-policy interface – pushing to ensure that high-quality evidence is at the heart of decision-making both within the UK and globally."
